we moved up to stockport november 2025, and since then we have tried many different places! here's a list of our go to spots in and around stockport.
cafes
1. sticky fingers
i'm sure most people who live in stockport will recommend this spot to you! they have the best pastries i've ever tried, and also do an insane rueben sandwich, in a croissant?! it's great.
2. rhode island coffee
go here if you want a great coffee or matcha. for us it's great to go during the week and do some remote work! they stock yummy sandwiches from rack as well.
3. yon orange
amazing matcha, minimal vibes.
vintage shops
1. the vintage emporium (& adidas outlet)
inside pear mill, there is a huge vintage shop filled with weird and wonderful things. there's vintage clothing, furniture, homeware and collectibles. who knows what you will find. whilst you're here, visit the adidas outlet too which is right next door!
2. 20th century stores
bigger than it looks from the outside! right next to the market hall, full of vintage clothing & random bits and bobs.
3. sweatstash
an online vintage shop who opens their doors thursday - saturday for studio appointments. located in a stunning mill just outside the centre of stockport. there's rails of clothes to shop, casual sportswear at a affordable price.
homeware
1. sqound
colourful, exciting and random. a bright orange coloured mid century homeware store in the underbanks. ran by 2 lovely guys and always new stuff in there!
2. rare mags
an independent magazine & book shop. they have a great selection, including hard to find & international mags. also serve coffee.
3. still life story
independent life style store! think jewellery, homeware, plants, clothing & more.
ahhh it's finally here. it's not just any old month, its second hand september.
started by oxfam, this is an annual campaign to inspire buying second hand or donating your old clothing. read more about oxfam and their history here.
working in the second hand clothing industry, it's crazy to see the amount of clothing in circulation. we don't even see the half of it.
for us, it's important to encourage others to shop second hand. we've grown up shopping on apps like depop, ebay and vinted. it's so easily accessible these days and you can almost always find whatever you want! we'll be writing more blogs throughout the month, showing you our favourite vintage shops to buy from.
there's something so fun about finding an amazing vintage piece, that you know no one else will own. buying second hand is such a great way to express yourself and curate your own unique style.
we try our best to keep clothes affordable, with the majority of our items being under £30. vintage should be kept affordable and for anyone to access.
if you wanna shop sweatstash this september, we sell second hand clothing and drop new items weekly on our website.
also, make sure to take a trip to your local charity shop this month and see if you can donate anything you no longer use/need!
